Synopsis

Album Description
Each Humanwine song is conceived as a mini movie soundtrack involving actors, color schemes, and a plot filled with antagonists, protagonists, conflicts, and resolutions that take place in the fictional "Vinland". Like any good surrealism, it's the realism that packs the artful punch, and the emotional content of Humanwine's songs is as real, powerful, and accessible as their very human composers. "Humanwine craft smart, spirited allegories for the modern age. Musical storytelling rife with character, conviction, wit, and guts" - Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls. Voted Best New Boston Act in the Boston Phoenix/WFNX Best Music Poll 2006.

CD Reviews

Wonderful Work - Short CD
J. Brutto | Macungie, PA | 03/22/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"While I understand it is merely a "hello, we're Humanwine and this is our EP", it left me salivating at the thought of more tracks. This frustrated me quite a bit and is probably the only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars. That and I was constantly reminded of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, even though this band provides a much more modern/deco approach to their music.

The vocal style provides a wonderful combination of a 20s/30s kickback while incorporating a modern sound and emotional expression. The base composition of the songs provides the same, but with much more of a "punch" than expected.

If you want to diversify your music mix and enjoy listening to new, unique combinations of genres as well as a genuinely unique sound, this is a must have. However, for a casual/pop listener, I would not recommend it."
Great new Boston band!

"Caught these guys opening for The Dresden Dolls a few months back and was blown away by their unique sound and originality. Somewhere between Gypsy Punk, Cabaret, Steampunk and Goth lives HUMANWINE. This 3 song CD is but a mere sampler of the diversity that these guys possess. As much as I like this CD I seriously suggest you catch them live. Definites ones to watch!"
Marvelous - darker than your ordinary cabaret
Nichole Owens | Inland Empire, CA USA | 05/12/2007

"A must have for anyone lucky enough to be entranced by the marvelous world of cabaret punk. Dark sultry voice paired with catchy melodies that were easy to hum along with the first time I popped it in the CD player while in the shower."
