"Slow, low-key pop music, a little like Low or Bedhead, but smoother and more resigned. Half Film have an extremely simple sound and few spiky edges (they're pretty much the only band of their ilk that eschews the loud / soft thing, being soft pretty much all the time), but that makes this album a great thing to throw on if you're sleep-deprived or having a rough day. The lead singer's voice is perpetually hushed, and if the lyrics often don't make sense, they're pleasingly imagistic. I can't count the number of times I've listened to "Machines, Hawks, and The Perfect Equation", and if it's possible, I've liked the song more each time I've heard it."
