"Sophie Yates may have a few finicky detractors, but you will not count me among them. Here is an outstanding CD by a harpsichordist who is first and foremost an artist. Especially attractive are the clear consise notes, written by the artist in as fine an example of the King's English as any CD notes, and, thankfully, completely devoid of noxious professional jargon or attitudinizing. Ms Yates treats the music as music, not technical and historical mazes, and her performances showcase an ebullient spirit. I haven't enjoyed a harpsichord recording more since purchasing a Japanese import of Helmut Walcha in Bach's French suites.
Handel fans will discover Handels' music receives a memorable and invigorating exposition. I'm not usually gung-ho for Handel's keyboard works: Ms Yates shows me up as quite the Philistine; these are captivating performances of some exceptional works, all quite beautifully recorded.
I look forward to hearing more of Ms Yates' recordings.

"Sophie Yates is a perfect example of virtuosity. She is british and therefore she knows how to capture Handel's spirit in her performance. Her technique is amazing and she also improvises in the chaconne in G. Her trills and mordents are even more creative and fast than Ton Koopman's.
