Album Description"Ross Pople?s performances confirm that he senses an ongoing revelation." - GRAMOPHONE In the eighteenth century, cultural life in London was very colorful and music for performances under the sky was in great demand. In the summer of 1717, Handel was given an order to compose suitable music for a royal boat ride. The Celebrated Water Music HWV 348?350, published in the 1730s by Walsh, may well be a collection of individual movements composed for several performances and can be divided into three suites (in D major, F major and G major). Part of this composition, the Suite in D major, was performed on July 17, 1717 for the boat trip on the occasion of the wedding of Frederic, Prince of Wales and Princess Augusta of Sachsen-Gotha. Exceptional musicianship is the mark of Ross Pople?s career. In all his concert series, where he presents intriguing and often unusual programs, Pople provides not only a platform for established soloists, but also introduces outstanding young musicians to the spotlight. Pople?s conducting affirms his irrepressible musical conviction and drive.
