The best and most glorious and moving ever...barr none!

"This is the Messiah that I grew up loving. For all the sad reviews of its ponderousness I say they are wrong. Perhaps I am prejudiced by the fact that this was my mother's favorite, what with her being trained as a mezzo suprano for the opera and then becoming an academic with a doctorate in music. Perhaps I am prejudiced by having heard dozens upon dozens. This pace is perfection. The tenor floats above the choir and then lingers...which is what he, and all the other soloists are supposed to do in this piece of holy wonderment. So many people cut the piece into a brisker tempo so that they can get through it in the amount of time most Americans can endure sitting with out their adhd kicking in. That is akin to doing Wagner's Ring in just one sitting. Give this a chance. You should grow to love it deeply and profoundly...the oldest of the recording sounds do not get in the way of the beauty of the interpretation."
Comfortable and Familiar -- great value!

"I'll be frank. I bought this set because of the price. How can you beat under $4 for a whole oratorio? I was apprehensive because of some of the very negative reviews, however I was pleasantly surprised. Ok, it may not be the pinnacle of recording quality, and probably isn't the most historically accurate interpretation. However, as an "old school" musician (very old), I didn't find it offensive in the least. If you are very particular about your recording quality and historical authenticity, this is not the recording for you. This is a comfortable, familiar rendition for people like me who just want to hear "Handel's Messiah" the way you remember singing it in college chorus (ok, a very very good college chorus with paid soloists!)."
Delightful

"I am thoroughly enjoying this Messiah performance. If you want to get into the Christmas spirit, set this on play. Can't beat the price.

Worth the Price

"I'm not a music expert, and I've read (and heard) more than one complaint from music aficionados about the recording quality. My suggestion is that if you're looking for an in-depth, powerful recording to search elsewhere. However, if you just want to be able to enjoy Handel at his finest, this is the purchase for you. You just can't beat the price."
