CD Reviews

Scotland's best kept secret!

"It's rare that I feel moved to post a review online, but the consistant brilliance of TCS is something I must share. From the mind bending lushness and layering of their first album, CAKE, to their wonderful second album, I'VE SEEN EVERYTHING, TCS is simply the most underated band I know of. Few bands have a consistent talent for songwriting. TCS not only consistently write great songs, they appear to do the impossible... write even better songs with each subsiquent album. That's no easy trick when each album is brilliant in its own right. Amazing. If I had the luck (and it would be PURE LUCK) to write a song that was as good as almost any of the songs on A HAPPY POCKET, I'd put down my guitar forever. The instrumental OUTSIDE and the songs THE SAFECRACKER and THE THERAPIST are immediately accessable examples of incredible songwriting. Many of the other tracks, THE GENIUS I WAS, THE POP PLACE, I'LL GET THEM IN, THE SLEEPING POLICEMAN reveal their brilliance after repeated listenings. This album was not released in the U.S., so it'll cost a little more, but it's worth it. If you're new to TCS, buy all three albums. If you already know and love TCS, beg, borrow or steal enough to buy A HAPPY POCKET."
No words can express the greatness of this album

"It's pure selfishness on my part, but the lyrical geniuses that call themselves the The Trash Can Sinatras are a band that I wanted no one to know about. The thought of them becoming yet another "top 40" band instills fear in me. Happy Pocket was a pleasant surprise to me given the fact I didn't think there was room for improvement after Cake was created. Happy Pocket shows that TCS still have the charm, wit, and creative wording that was relevant the first time I heard them in 1991. "Cake" altered my way of thinking about music, "I've seen everything" took it to a higher level, and "Happy Pocket" reinvented it yet again. If you want goose bumps time & time again, buy all of their albums. Don't get me started on the singles and B-sides!"
This is a great Cd

"Why this band is not more well known I will never understand... A Happy Pocket is pure genius. Twisted and Bent is completely brilliant --as is How can i Apply, Safecracker and The Therapist. 'The Genius i was' is incredible also."
