"NO ONE plays a better ballad on tenor than Harry. The Rhode Island bred prodigy is one of the geniuses of the modern treatment of standards, and a heck of a modest guy to boot. This CD captures Harry at this best (in my opinion) playing the slow, sultry stuff with a sensitivity and clarity unmatched by anyone. He is never far from the melody, but NEVER dull or uninventive. Harry is backed by a stellar crew throughout the disk (recorded live on German club dates in the 90's), with the likes of Dave McKenna, Howard Alden and Randy Sandke. Romance is back in style when the tenor is played by Mr. Allen. Great record!"
