Fine Performances of Haydn's Cello Concertos

"Hopefully EMI will reissue this fine recording soon, as a memorial to the late Giuseppe Sinopoli. Both he and his beloved Dresden Staatskapelle give warm, vibrant performances of these Haydn scores, acting as admirable accompanists to cellist Chang. At times they sound more like a chamber orchestra than a full fledged symphony orchestra. Chang's playing is exemplary, rich with warm, brilliant tones. Needless to say, EMI's sound quality is first rate."

"Singopoli does a masterful job of conducting and Chang is mature way beyond her years... if only all cd's were as well produced as this one. I think the C Major is one of the most beautiful cello concertos written--it would be a shame if this version were not reissued."
