Album DescriptionBucking the trend of going for a "style", or "sound", Hearing Voices focused, first and foremost, on making great music, and followed that star wherever it took them. The result is an unexpected combination of musical styles bound together only by the strength of their melodies and lyrics. The songs range in style from acoustic roots rock, to hyper punk, smooth blues, and melodic hard rock. So, good luck trying to force this one into a narrow category! Perhaps it's all a byproduct of how they formed. Hearing Voices was formed when a professed studio geek and a dynamic rock stage veteran pulled together the hottest players in their area to create an album they could be proud of. The result is a showcase of writing talent, and performance muscle. From the sweet, sentimental "In Your Eyes" and "I Paint You", to the angry, defiant, hard rock of "Breakdown" and "Corruptible" this album runs the gamut of style and emotion. "Wish I Could Fly", is reminiscent of the smooth blues produced by Robert Cray, or Dire Straits, while "Spaces In Between", evokes singer/storytellers like Shawn Mullins and Bob Dylan. Pick any one or two songs, and you might compare Hearing Voices to Train, Vertical Horizon, or 3 Doors Down. But, the collection, taken as a whole, covers more ground than you'll find in most commercial releases.
