CD Reviews

A gem of an album
olubi babalola | Atlanta GA | 08/02/2000

"While Allan Holdsworth is a relatively well known artist amongst surviving die hard "fusionados", he is known mostly for his electric and electronic guitar investigations. This album presents an extreemely sensitive side of the artist, and the partially toned down pyrotecnics on the acoustic guitar allow the listener to focus on the artists melodic sophistication. Gordon Beck is a less known impressario. His somewhat ecclectic piano style is influenced a little by jazz a little by ragtime, a little by barell house and some other stuff I cant quite put a finger on. All things considered, this is an important contribution by two major talents worthy of a place in any serious music lovers collection."
Superb - Beyond Compare

"It all comes down to, do you get it? We all know how wonderful a composer Allan Holdsworth is. But are you familiar with one of the greatest living pianists, Gordon Beck? You should be. I have never heard a pianist that has created a style of his own, as Gordon Beck has. He plays ferociously and intently. The volume of his playing in itself is unique. Now, back to the real reason why this CD is a milestone. Allan Holdsworth plays a great deal of SynthAxe (guitar controller) throughout these tracks. It is an amazing combination, the piano and the SynthAxe. Great juxtiposition.DISCLAIMER: You must be an accomplished musician/composer/afficianado to buy this CD."
