"After enjoying previous Zazou works, and with the presence of several other artists I admire (Eno & Sakamoto in particular), this was a must-buy for me. The first disc is a CD with eleven pieces of abstract electronic themes, some with strings (the Archer Strings). The 2nd is a DVD of digital paintings by Bernard Caillaud, accompanied by ten of the same themes, in a different sequence that flows from one theme to the next. The paintings are brightly colored, animated patterns of lines and shapes the move roughly in sync with the music, sometimes in very subtle ways. At times I thought this artwork was just a step above Microsoft basic screensaver patterns like "3D pipes" and "Mystify," but other times I found it fascinatingly complex. A couple of other notes: The CD info on this page just lists all the songs from 1 to 22, but they are actually on the two separate discs, CD & DVD. Also, I hope for the reader's benefit that Quadri+Chromies will be released domestically so you don't have to pay import prices as I did."
