"I purchased the vinyl edition of this fine album sometime in the early 70s at the Livingston Sam Goody's (RIP). The gentlemen stocking the shelves turned me on to it (although it was not really what I was looking for at the time). This morning I saw it in the racks at the Evanston Barnes and Noble's. Nice surprise.
This is a reunion of Oscar with Herbie, his erstwhile guitarist. The notes call it more of a jam session but it's a tribute to the connectivity of these two that it clicks totally. The high point, as Oscar's solo makes clear, is "Hamp's Blues" (do not confuse with the Lionel version). What a soulful rendition!
The transfer is at 192/24 (very nice on my Revel Concertas) and the price is quite felicitous ($7.97). What are you waiting for?"
