Search - Henry's Child :: Mumbles & Screams

This indie debut from Oregon-based Henry's Child is a strong effort from beginning to end; if it has a fault, it's that there's almost too much material. Good songwriting and the vocalist's considerable skills are Mumbles & Screams' major strengths, making up for weak production that muddies the guitars and occasionally makes the drums sound like cardboard boxes. There's a nice mix of hard-edged, up-tempo rock with progressive tinges, and slower ballads. The atmospheric guitar-based opening of "Failure", followed by a more aggressive edge as the song kicks into full swing, is a good indication of the material on this album. If you've never heard of Henry's Child, don't worry. You will. -- Genevieve Williams
