Great soundtrack, but lousy format.

"Although the soundtrack to HATARI is quite enjoyable to listen to (obviously, dependent entirely upon one's taste in music), the format via which it was presented left quite a lot to be desired. I missed during the order of this product that it is a CD-R (i.e. a copied CD, not an original) that is produced on demand. Unfortunately, the CD would not play in all equipment. I purchased this as a gift for a friend, and he was unable to get it to play on his high quality, component-based home entertainment system, but was able to play it via computer. He brought it to my attention, asking if I could get my money back for it. I tried playing the CD on my component-based system, and it occured as well for me. Not exactly what I expected, and certainly not what I hoped for. Bottom line, avoid this product; unlike me, don't be so cheap as to buy this release as opposed to the pressed CD which costs approximately double. I plan on keeping this copied version for the car, and springing for the more expensive version so my friend can listen to this great soundtrack on his home system, thereby enjoying it to the fullest."
Great Score

"A favorite movie score and highly recommended. Baby Elephant Walk was a pop hit for Mancini, however, it is the whole movie score that is really excellent. I understand the previous reviewer's frustration with the CD-R format though it is readable by virtually all CD players manufactured in the last few years. If this is a concern, Amazon also offers the Hatari/High Time combined soundtrack as a regular CD. Personally, I think that on-demand CD-Rs are a great idea."
