CD ReviewsThe Best Solo Performance of Herb Alpert . . . Simply Great Antonio M. Flores | Mexico City | 07/09/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "The best Herb Alpert solo album which reached the peak in Latin America because evokes a truly spanish, brazilian & latin sound. Track listing: 1.Fandango (Juan Carlos Calderon) Truly spanish-flamenco like. Herb's thrompet sounds dominant. 2.Margarita (Juan Carlos Calderon) Great Song. Very fine orchestral arragements. 3.Push And Pull (Juan Carlos Calderon) A latin jazzy-like song, including fine arragements for the "latino" tropical music instrument called "güiro" 4.California Blues (Juan Carlos Calderon) A Baja-style, latin blues song. Beautiful like looking at the sunset at the sea of Baja. 5.Quiereme Tal Como Soy (Rafael Perez-Botija) A classic latin romantic ballad. Herb Alpert sings and he does quite well!!! 6.Route 101 (Juan Carlos Calderon) The duet Herb's thrompet with the accompanying guitar is superb!!. Very rhythmic tempo. 7.Coco Loco (La Guajira) (Diego Verdaguer) Ideal for the sundays afternoon dancing below the summer sun at the beach. 8.Aria (Eduardo Magallanes) Powerful tunes, fullfilled of mexican mariachis guitars, evoking a sense of "fiesta en La Alameda con mis amigos", with ligths and pirotecnia at the evening.!!! 9.Angel (Juan Carlos Calderon) Herb's thrompet dominates this theme, showing us how great a musician can be. A latin joy song. 10.Sugarloaf (Erasmas Carlos, Roberto Carlos) Brazilian fashionable. Full of tropical beats. 11.Latin Medley: Frenesi, Bahia, Moliendo Cafe, Porompompero (Dominguez, Barroso, Manzo, Ochiata/Valerio/Solano) A rhythmic medley closing for a very fine, very enjoyable album. Thank you Herb!! The album was recorded in Mexico City and all arranges were made by many recognized latinamerican musicians and composers so it has a full latin taste, not even touch by any other album performed with The Tijuana Brass. This album is a must have !!!" THE CROWNING JEWEL IN HERB'S LONG AND ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER Wayne Racine | Ottawa ON | 06/07/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "This one's a classic - a terrific album from start to finish. Luckily I sought out this CD when it was first released (even then it was hard to find) - now it's probably the most valuable disc in my collection of over 1000 CDs." Watch out for the Brazilian bootlegs Harry Gene Neyhart | Sunny Central Florida, USA | 10/20/2008 (1 out of 5 stars) "A bootleg outfit known as "Omega Records" in Brazil has been pumping out Herb Alpert discs now for a few years. They're all over online auction sites, and are now invading Amazon.com. You should know that anything with the "Omega Records" label from Brazil is a bootleg. A genuine FANDANGO CD at this point in time (2008) is only available either as a Japanese import or a US issue, both genuine A&M Records products. FANDANGO is a fantastic album and deserves a proper release. Over at AMCorner dot com, we've heard that FANDANGO is slated for a release from Shout! Factory sometime in the future. We recommend that you be patient and wait for what's sure to be an exceptional CD. Avoid "Omega" bootlegs!"
