"Finally, to be offered from Amazon, this recording sounds as fresh as when 1st released, as the title suggests, the "free" music left to your ears to interpret.



This CD features the famous and much recorded composition, a "standard" in Braz , it should be in the USA jazz "fake-books" also 'Bebê', with its joyous melody and chord progression that is an improvisor's dream.



Also , this recording unusual as Hermeto features TWO compositions he did not write, the famous Gonzaga composition that "speaks Brasil" "Asa Branca' , and Pixiguinha's beautiful (and also many times recorded/interpreted) "Carinhoso". The renditions of course will represent the some of the concepts of Hermetão's "música universal", as folcloric sounds and modern harmonic/melodic concepts mexe into a lush background for 1st class improvisations.



This recording also features some of the more abstract vision of O Bruxo, and "O Gaio da Roseira" was recorded by Airto/Flora , with Hermeto assistance in the same early years of this recording was made!



I have reviewed MOST of the Hermeto recordings here on the Amazon, and I am running dry on the superlative words to describe the musical contributions of, as I say, the greatest composer/improvisor on this bola-confusão planeta! (and he is also "um Verdão", a supporter of the São Paulo futebol club Palmeiras, as I am, haha!)



For "aplicado discipulos" of the classic "O Grupo" and recordings that followed, this recording , along with his only (at the time) USA recording , the orchestral "Hermeto" (w/ a lista of some of the finest jazz musicians in "the states') is a perfect piece of musical history , a middle step in the musical line in Hermeto's recorded legacy.



From "Quarteto Novo" to the most recent release with his wife Aline, to complete your Hermeto Paschoal collection, this recording a "must own"!
