"Due to my interest in The Church and the solo efforts of Steve Kilbey and Marty Willson-Piper, I discovered the only two releases by Steve Kilbey and Donette Thayer as Hex. There is not one wasted track on this album. Every one is a rich tapestry of Donette's silky alluring vocals and Steve's detailed and well crafted songwriting magic. I'm a veteran listener of rock since its birth, and I'm extremely particular about my music. This album and its follow-up, Vast Halos, rank as two of the most imaginative and creative pieces I've heard in a long time. It's difficult to describe the pleasure derived from Hex, except to say I'll be playing these forever, and it's truly a shame there will be no more. Get both while they are still available. You won't be sorry if you enjoy special effort by people who truly care about their craft."

"Let me echo the previous review without hesitation -- it's a shame that such lush, dreamlike songs are ignored & forgotten in the glut of mass-produced "product" that passes for music today. Here you'll find genuine art, fired by an ethereal yet intense vision, crafted like an intricate piece of ornate jewelry ... and it's a languidly rapturous art that enfolds you, carries you into another world. If only there was more of it! Both Hex CDs urgently need to be made available again; until then, if you can find any used copies, don't hesitate to get them. Wonderful in every way!"
