Album DescriptionThe recording is a virtuosic compilation of brand new acoustic songs of bluegrass and jazz roots penned by the band?s members, and clearly demonstrates why this band has been receiving so much attention lately. From the aggressive first chords of the first track, Big Darby, the band takes the listener on an emotional ride through the sweet (Breakfast In Sydney), sassy (Waves In The Sands), exciting (Spirits Of The Okeechobee), funny (Run Rachel Run), serious (My Hometown), and dazzling (Big Darby). Each of the twelve original tracks (Spirits of the Okeechobee is split into two tracks ? its introduction and body ? to be more radio-friendly) and two cover tunes are unique in their style and substance, and each is compelling in its own way. For example, the group?s wide range of capabilities is shown by contrasting the bluegrass-based My Heart?s In Carolina co-written by mandolinist Anthony Hannigan and fiddler Sue Cunningham, with the folk-based My Hometown written by guitarist Dan Shipe, with the jazz fusion-based Take A Ride written by banjoist David Cavage. Take A Ride starts with a solo banjo riff before taking off into a hard-driving rhythmic jam sure to get feet moving in the audience.
