CD Reviews

Solid music

"This is a solid album, but Japanese imports can be awfully expensive.

However, there is hope, I just discovered.

There are two sellers, both based in Italy, that sell an actual box set that contains not only this album, but the first High Fashion album "Feelin' Lucky" along with three albums by the B.B. & Q. Band, their self-titled debut album, "All Night Long" and "Six Million Times."

The price is quite decent for the set."

"If you know Jaques Fred Petrus, the producer of Change and BB&Q band among others and have missed this group you got to grab this one. After their first moderate album from 82 this album turn out to be much stronger with a more general high standard then their debut.I can't really say that this song or that song is better then the other, they are all very good. All of them from the fast "Make Up Your Mind", "Break Up" and "Pump on the pipe" to the incredible sensual mid tempo track "Just A Little More Love" makes you =O and =P of pure joy. Truly one of 1983 most overlooked albums. In fact this album is even a bit better then their "big brother" fellow under Petrus wings Changes album that same year, and that tells a lot!I must have in any R&B collectors CD collection!"
Just A Little More Music

"This is a fine record.
I bought that thing back then in the early eighties when I was absolutely hooked on Change/BB&Q/High Fashion, and was a bit disappointed even then.
High Fashion's debut album "Feelin' Lucky Lately" was a stunner, including such all time favorites as "When The Lover Strikes" and "Have You Heard The News", all the result of Jacques Fred Petrus' getting together the best of Italian studio musicians and black US soul singers.
This, then, is a bit of a letdown. No doubt that "Just A Little More Time" is a huuuuuge song. I still sing it for myself when I am sad and lonely.
The rest of the album, except "Love" maybe, is - sad to say - well below the very stringent quality level raised by the producers on other records.
But then, "Make Up Your Mind" is a classic. It's not for the un-initiated, but rather for us suckers who lived on a wodka-martini and a joint in that time; in love with beautiful ladies, eager to get to know the world, and disembarrassed with music lacking in passion.
Do I sing something from "Just A Little More Time" for you?"
