Taking Flight spans from the classic songs of Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, and George and Ira Gershwin to the contemporary standards of Lennon & McCartney and Paul Simon and beyond. Included in this delicious mix are tunes by theatrical composers Craig Carnelia and Maltby & Shire; contemporary singer-songwriters Susan Werner, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Gretchen Peters, and Judy Collins; as well as songs by the Bergmans, Michel Legrand, and even Monty Python's Eric Idle. Providing the magnificent musical landscape to Hilary s beautiful watercolor are some of the nation s top musicians, including the superb Beckie Menzie on piano throughout the CD and, on the trio numbers, Leo Murphy on drums and Scott Mason on bass.
