"I have been a fan of Hiram Bullock's guitar playing since we were teenagers back in Baltimore in the late 60's and early 70's. To me, his playing, particularly live, has always had an adventurous quality to it and adventure is something I seek in all art forms.I bought Color Me after seeing him perform live in Germany last spring. Not only was it a memorable concert, it was a privilege to hear him play piano and sing after the show in the lobby of the hotel where we were staying.Color Me is my favorite Bullock album since the album he made with the 24th St. Band with Cliff Carter, Mark Egan and Will Lee. I actually bought the cd because of the title tune and because of the tune Hurricane. Both tunes I had heard for the first time at that concert in Germany. Surprisingly, the number Cafe Luna became a hit with my children during our summer vacation in France (and you know how critical children can be)!The production is excellent although Hurricane sounds like it wants to distort. A big surprise for me was discovering the drum talent of Clint deGanon. And the man can sing, too! (Hey Clint, when you coming over?)A well balanced album with some good playing. Hiram Bullock is someone that you have to see live if you really want to get a good taste of what the man can do. A thoroughly entertaining performer. And he's a charmer, too."
