This Astor Piazzolla album features many rarely performed works, especially the two conceptual suites. Histoire du Tango, originally written for flute and guitar but often played (as here) with violin instead of flute, creates a sound and texture more identified with the old tango orchestras. Cinco Piezas para guitarra was written especially for solo classical guitar. Others works are heard in Isabel Siewers arrangements. Cacho Tirao, guitarist and member of Piazzolla s 70s group, arranged the version of Chiquilin de Bachin (one of Piazzollas most popular songs) heard here.
