"...that somebody FINALLY put this stuff out on CD! I have been waiting at least a decade for this, having basically worn out a vinyl copy of the "78-82" compilation LP, which this CD totally trumps by including about an album-and-a-half of previously unreleased rarities. No question that the cream of this double-cd set are the tracks that made up the Hitmen's debut self-titled album,which should be required listening for anybody remotely interested in rock and roll. The extras are made up of non-album 45 tracks, live-to-air sessions, demos, and audience bootleg recordings, all of which show that these guys had a pretty impressive spread of originals and choice covers to choose from. The exhaustive liner notes also reveal that the band was initially headed towards a "poppier" sound, but jettisoned most of this in favor of the crunching, metallic BOC / Dictators/MC5 wall of guitars that the album ended up being. In a word: amazing."
