Synopsis

Description
With powerful lyrics, driven songs, and a strong stage presence, the Hogg Maulies bring together the elements to create a distinctive sound to the Texas Country Music forefront. Growing up in a small West Texas town between Lubbock and Abilene, with nothing more to see than cotton fields and sunsets, lead singer and rhythm guitar player, Rode Morrow, bass guitarist and harmony vocalist, Bradey Murphree, and drummer David Mullins learned how to appreciate a few of the simpler things in life ? good friends and good music. With this enjoyment, a new sound began to surge from their music and lyrics. While attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock, the three friends became acquainted with guitar player, Jerod Foster, another small town kid with heavy roots in blues and classic rock. After playing a few gigs that garnered them strong support, it didn?t take long to figure out that they had something special ? a new, unique sound and a desire for their music to be heard. Their distinct sound can be attributed to their creativity and talent as a group as well as their wide array of musical influences, which range from country legends such as Bob Wills and George Strait to classic rock icons such as The Rolling Stones and the Doobie Brothers, and alternative rockers Nirvana and Pearl Jam, as well as Texas/Red-Dirt musicians such as Roger Creager and Mike McClure. The Hogg Maulies have shared the same stage with artists such as Gary P. Nunn, Cooder Graw, Reckless Kelly, Aaron Watson, Travis Linville, Scott Evans, The Charlie Shafter Band, Tommy Alverson, the Eli Young Band, Copperhead, Texas Jack, The Sunny Helms Band, and Drew Womack. "The Ride," the Hogg Maulies first studio album, was released in March 2005. Additional musicians include Jason Lerma and Eric Andrews (both of Aaron Watson and the Orphans of the Brazos), Kina Lankford, Scot Williams, and Larry Rains. "Austin Slow Down," the single off of "The Ride" CD was recognized as the number 35 song of 2005 by radiofreetexas.org. It spent 8 weeks in the top 10 on that site, and 10 weeks in the top 10 on Texas Music Theater Radio. Their second studio album, "Here to Stay," is scheduled for release in August 2007.
