"One of the most exciting obscure Soul singles from the early 1970's I have recently run across is BILL BRANDON's "Stop This Merry-Go-Round", which was issued on Moonsong 9001 in 1972 (which was distributed by Mercury and got to #33 on the R*B charts for 7 weeks).
I knew Brandon's amazing recordings made in the late 1960's for Quinvy/South Camp.....so I knew what a great singer he was.
Wow...was I surprised at this amazing single! It's on this superb CD (in mono, darnit).
The sound quality is typical first-rate for UK Ace (certainly the premier Worldwide reissue label). The Vol. 3 of this series of Atlanta-based Southern Soul includes great tracks by Bill Brandon, Sam Dees, Roszetta Johnson, Frederick Knight, and King Hannibal, among others, which most were issues on small early 1970's labels; ClinTone, Moonsong, GRC and Aware. No loser tracks here...all of them are first-rate.
This is absolutely worth you giving it a chance...and wait til you here "Stop This Merry-Go-Round"!"
