Intimate Holly.

"Let me start out by saying I own every Holly Golightly CD, but this is the one I listen to the most. Why? Because it is perfect "rockin'-blues". Great music played in a venue where the blues are meant to be played. A smokey bar, glasses tinkling, rowdy fans, and all of the fun (emphasis on fun) of a live show. This is a nice cross section of Holly tunes played like they should be. It's very intimate. Very immediate. Very real.
I'm not sure I get the comments about the bad mastering. It is actually mastered very well. (the recording volume is a bit higher than average though) Perhaps what was meant was editing. But, this is a live recording, and that's what you get. It sounds and feels very live. All the cheers, jeers, mis-fires, bar-room acoustics and banter. (and a slightly boistrous sound man) It's not "clean", but the sound is spot on, and very warm. I dislike the "live" recordings that have been edited and cleaned up to such a degree that they really sound more like a studio recording with an applause track. With this one you can turn up the volume, pour yourself a bourbon, close your eyes, and you are there in the crowd with Holly fifteen feet in front of you.
I've never been lucky enough to see Holly perform live (yet), but with this recording I feel like I have. And she is fantastic."
