CD Reviews

This is easy listening French style!!!

"The first cd transports you back to the easy listening experiences of the sixties (France, UK & USA), back to Casino Royale, The lady in Cement (title track included), Bridget Bardot, Raquel Welch, Dahla Lavi and Claudine Longet (in fact this cd is worth buying just to listen to Claudine invite you to "spend the night together"). Especially for all us over 40's who can remember these beautiful ladies!!!!

Then enjoy some great house hits on the second cd!!

And don't forget to visit St Tropez and the hotel Byblos if you can, if you haven't been, it's time you went (just keep away during August).

Big disappointment

"Unlike the other people who reviewed this, I will offer a younger perspective (i'm 23). I first heard about this cd in a magazine, and after I read a good review, rushed out to buy it. The cover looked very appealing and I expected the same of the music. Boy was I wrong.

The first cd is called "Dinner at Bayader," and while the Buddha Bar series can get away with a dinner themed cd, the Byblos cd cannot. As I played the fitst cd, I was lulled to sleep by flat, repetitive music, with no soul. Now don't get me wrong. After each horrible song was over, I still held out hope that the next song would be good. 15 songs later and there wasn't even 1 decent song. So as you can imagine I didn't have high hopes for cd 2, but tried to remain optomistic anyway.

Cd 2 actually started off ok, with a club remix of a catchy song. 1 minute later the song became repetitive, and lacked any energy, or creativity. I went through this cd, and it was actually worse than the first 1 if you can believe it. The reason I say this is because I expected to find at least 1 good song, I mean afterall I spent $30 on this. The music was more atune to sleepy jazz/blues music with a repetitive female voice bellowing sweet nothings with a slight club beat in the background.

I actually listened to both cd's again quite recently, hoping I was too harsh the first time around and tried again to find some good songs. Again I failed. So let me give you some good advice: please don't waste your money on this cd unless you enjoy terrible music, forget that. It was so bad its quasi music. To even call it music is a misnomer. If you want great music try the HED KANDI series."
