"This (rather pricey, unfortunately) import is the first opportunity to pick up Humble Pie's first two releases together on one CD set. I remember the now long out of print 2-LP set containing the albums "Town + Country" and "As Safe As Yesterday Is". A&M was the label for the vinyl version, and I'm puzzled why we've never had a more affordable domestic version released on CD. At any rate, if you want to splurge, some of the Pie's best material is on here. If you're only familiar with the later Humble Pie sound, mostly fueled by Steve Marriott's obsession with blues-boogie/pseudo R&B, you may be surprised by the melodic country and folk-rock influences on the early albums. You can probably attribute this to Peter Frampton's more visible influence early on; I always felt he played the tuneful McCartney to Marriott's more rough-hewn Lennon. If you're a Traffic,Blind Faith or late-period Small Faces fan, you'll enjoy this one."
