CD Reviews

GREAT SONGS!!!
Ahmed Chronwell | 06/25/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a surprisingly good and satisfying album from H.W.A.. The songs are based on the usual topics : Sexual Politics and Respect. The songs have a great west coast rap sound much like Yo Yo and Lady of Rage. The highlights on this cd are also my favourites which are tracks 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,11,12 , and 13. Overall a solid debut effort from the ladies who started this popular sound . Get this before anything from far less superior 2 Live Crew. I strongly recommend the following albums from similar artists : Yo Yo-"You Better Ask Somebody", Yo Yo- "Total Control", Sylk E. Fyne- "Tha Chum Up" ,Suga T- "Gettin' It", Lady of Rage- " Necessary Roughness", Foxy Brown- "Chyna Doll", Missy Elliot- "Da Real World", Mia X- "Momma Drama" , Gangsta Boo- "Both Worlds: Star 69" , and H.W.A- " Az Much Ass Az U Want" the group's 1994 album . Ask for it at your local retailer. SIGNED MUSIC FAN."
Could this be the inspiration for Li'l Kim and Foxy Brown?

(2 out of 5 stars)

"Before Li'l Kim and Foxy brown burst onto the rap scene with their sexually explicit raps there was HWA (Ho's With an Attitude). On this, their smutty debut release they hold nothing back with rhymes about such topics as cunnilingus "Eat This," and Phone sex "1-900-B-I-T-C-H-E-S. The girls can rap and some of the songs are quite clever. Perhaps with some more top knotch producers the group could have had a brighter future. But as it is, this album only succeeds as a humorous novelty. An album that is initially enjoyable for it's unabashed raunchiness, but ultimately becomes quite boring after repeat listening."
Badd Attitudes

(3 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is a relic from a time when rappers were experimenting with their profanity:1990. These LA sisters explore topics such as member size, pimping, and phone-sex addiction over beats that are kinda funky. The music is created by "Pimps" such as Dangerous D and it has that soul guitar/NWA/DOC/Ruthless Records sound of late 80's gangsta rap. Most female MCs are indirectly influenced by HWA especially Trina from Florida who is very up front that it is a pay to play deal in her rhymes. Fans of Ice T and Trick Daddy would dig this."
