Synopsis

Album Description
With so much hype on the red hot debut EP, Roses On White Lace, the press had one main question..."can these guys deliver a full record this strong?" With the highly anticipated album, Capture The Magic, Icarus Witch have gone above & beyond the call. Eight new original songs of classic metal mastery plus a scorching, cover of the Ozzy classic "S.A.T.O." make this record sparkle in sea of dull wannabes. Icarus Witch have a unique formula that draws breath from the early metal masters (Maiden, Priest, Dio, Malmsteen, Savatage, Rainbow, etc.) while sounding fresh and powerful in this day of emo, screamo, rap core angst. Melody, harmony, hooks, fantastic lyrics of battle, magic, mystery & myth take the adventerous metal head on a journey to the center of their minds! This album is serious metal, but the result is just so fun, you'll swear you're back in the daze of classic trans ams, arena concert parking lot tail gate parties and theatrical hard rock that is best listened to loudly with headphones, a frosty beverage, candlelight and 20 sided dice. Hail!

CD Reviews

A continuation of the EP
Hellion Zephreid | Pittsburgh | 10/26/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was at the CD release party last night and let me tell you, these guys can play! I found out it was the first time the band played together live and it showed but the talent of the band was evident as well. Performing on a stage can be learned by doing, talent cannot. The riffs, the drumming, the vocals......let me just say I am glad they are from Pittsburgh. They represent our city well even though the metal scene is at a minimum if it even really exists here at all. Nice job last night guys and thanks for delivering a full length CD to us, the metalheads that live for this stuff. If you are in your late 30's or older, go and get this now and go back several decades in time. It sure feels and sounds good. A lot of the riffs are very Randy Rhoads sounding without being ripoffs. That is a compliment."
Vintage!

"Wow. What a complete surprise. I only say that because I'm from Pittsburgh and before this CD the only mention of this band I had seen was a flyer seeking a drummer. Somebody brought the CD to me at work and said I should check it out and I have to thank them, what a great album. It totally reminds me of being back in high school. This is completely authentic, vintage metal. If you now or ever loved Maiden, Sanctuary, Queensryche, Savatage or early Fates Warning this is SO for you. Great vocals and fantastic playing along with solid songwriting make this a guaranteed winner. Great job guys! Good to see this coming from my hometown!"
Classic yet contemporary!
Priestess Of Doom | Moundsville, WV | 12/04/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I disagree with the last reviewer. Apparently she's not familiar with parable. The songs have a lot of depth and multiple meanings depending on the listener's ability to go beneath the surface. For instance a track about "giants" waking is just as much about the perils of abusing nature. A tale of a gypsy queen can be read as a love song, simply told in a classy, mystic setting. Sure there are Maiden comparisons, but unlike many new bands who take those influences and inject them into a modern, downtuned, aggro "nu" style, Icarus Witch keeps things classic, proudly showing their influences while managing to bring fresh new riffs & a continuation of the legacy of true metal that has been missing (or at best WAY underground & off the map) for years. I doubt they are too concerned with what Dragonforce or Nightwish are doing, as the Witch is more about carrying the torch of hard rock bands like Dio & Queensryche as they were in their prime. Judging from the new material played at shows & on myspace, I think the next CD will even further separate them from the pack as well as distinguish them as a unique rising star in a scene in need of some new fire."
