He's been down since '85, and still ain't falling off!

"The Brainiac does it again with his brand new CD, "War & Peace (the peace disc)". He is back with the real sh't at last, and "Peace" is his best album since "Death Certificate". I was a little nervous when I found out that he didn't produce, and that the likes of Chucky Thompson and Puff Daddy was beatmakers. But it works out real fine and the beats are perfect for Ice Cube. Cube fans know that the sound on "War" wasn't quite right... Anyway Cube's flow is better that ever, on tracks like "Roll All Day" and "Supreme Hustle" he proves that his game is still tight and that he can match rap-storytellers like Slick Rick and Biggie. This CD contains a pile of supa tracks, that Cube fans and Gangsta Rap fanatics can love for a long time . Be sure to check out "Hello" w/Mc Ren and Dre, "Gotta Be Insanity" and "Record Company Pimpin'". This actor/producer/screenwriter/MC is still doin' it... and I can't help lovin' it!"

Strong production but Cube has ran out of things to say

"There's no doubt that War and Peace Vol 2 is a very listenable album, the production for the most part is excellent with deep bass and beats. Besides, Ice Cube is one of the best rappers in the game when it comes to skills and style, he's raw and aggressive delivery still makes for a great listening.However..Cube has the problem as other rappers in the game like Ice-T..he's ran out of things to say..there's no social/political commentary like in Amerikkas Most Wanted, Kill at Will or Death Certificate. Instead, Cube raps about how much money he got, about playa haters and so on.Still..Cube is Cube and the album is definitely better than the very uneven War Disc.Ironically, the first track on the album produced by Dr Dre and it's an NWA cut with MC Ren, Dr Dre and Ice Cube. Here Cube is at he's strongest just as back in the days, the same was true for the Next Friday soundtracks NWA cut Chin Check in which Cube was dope..but on all the other songs, he just cannot elevate himself lyrically.Still..an excellent albm with many great cuts like "Nigga of the Century" and "Hell Low"..the NWA track"

"This is for all you that have only been listening to rap for a couple of years. Do not judge Ice Cube's abilities on his past couple albums. To appreciate him, go back to albums like "Death Certificate" , "Predator" and "AMW". I respect Ice Cube as an actor and as an artist, but his last couple attempts at gaining the stature he once had have come empty handed. This album is tired."

Not Cubes best work, but he keeps on hangin

"When Ice Cube was with N.W.A. he was he great. His first few solo projects were classics. However his last few projects are just not what The old Ice Cube was like. In this Album The beats are ok and the lyrics are good. He starts off the album on a smart way, the song is called hello featuring his old N.W.A buddies Dr. Dre and Mc Ren, they explain that they started Gansta Rap and people should not hate on them. The song is clearly the best on the album, with an amazing beat and great lyrics from the three. When I first heard this song, it seemed like I was listening to an N.W.A. tape from the mid 80's. Anyway, the album includes other decent songs and not really any garbage tracks. So far all of the albums Ice Cube has been involved with have gone platinum, including all N.W.A. albums and West Side Connection. Also this is slightly better than Volume One which went platinum, the bottom line is Ice Cube could still rap! His acting career on the other has been succsesful too. I hope he could keep it up. On one final N.W.A. will be coming back! yes thats right, The difference this time is that Snoop Dogg will take Eazy E's place. So all cube fans need to check that out which will come ou at the end of the year,"

A HUGE dissapointment!!

"The Peace disc is Ice Cube's worst album ever. In fact, he's never released a weak album untill now. I am one of those who loved The War Disc - yes, I think it's really good. But the Peace disc - it's a whole new ball-game. I had to force myself to give it a 3 and not less. The album has some great songs and some really, really WACK ones. It starts off with a NWA-reunion on the song "Hello" - it's a very good song, but comparing it to the old NWA... come on, get real. After that there's "You ain't got to lie" which is a strong and funny track about them liars. Other standout tracks are the catchy dancefloor hit "You Can Do It", "Roll All Day", "Can U Bounce" and "24 Mo' Hours". The rest is either weak or unlistenable! Track like the cheesy song with Krazy Bone - I could NEVER listen to it! Or that heavy-sampled Puff Daddy produced track "Gotta be insanity". And there are a few more that are just dissapointing. On many points it seems like Ice Cube just doesn't know what to talk about, and even when he can come out with some good lyrics you may be dissapointed by weak production. Out of this album I love about 5 or 6 songs, most of the rest I'll skip. I can't believe people around here are rating this album as 5 stars as a perfect album!! Have they forgotten "Death Certificate" or "AmeriKKa's Most Wanted"?... I guess they think it's on the same level, huh? Well, OK. People who really understand music know the truth."
