"This live Trovatore is, as some have said, unknown or barely known, but it's great. Corelli was famous for his Manrico, but his 1962 live performance with Price or the 1964 studio recording with Tucci are more famous. This, however, is a live 1960 recording conducted by Oliviero de Fabritiis. Corelli's tenor rings like a bell through every minute. Mirella Parutto's Leonora is good, but no better then that. Barbieri's Azucena was one of the most famous around, and Bastianini was STUNNING as Di Luna. Though the audience was annoyingly loud, this is still a fabulous performance."
