Ilsa is a mix of Extreme Metal (Death and Doom) with Crust Punk, to form a heavy and abrasive whole that is not quite like any other band around. They were formed in 2008 and have since released two full-lengths, each adorned by distinctive black-and-white art designed by a member of the band that hearkens back to the art for old horror movies and comics. Besides this art, the band name and some of their song titles also give the game away: Ilsa is steeped in old exploitation and grindhouse cinema, and this atmosphere bleeds through most everything they have released thus far.
