"If Chupacabra was an animal, it would be a ferocious lion. If *this* album was an animal, it would be the one that not only takes down the lion, rips it to shreds and then licks the bones clean.
This album has got everything the first album lacked. She created a style for herself with Chupacabra, while also acknoledging that the system of "Verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus/chorus" works wonders. This album takes it a step further and mucks the system up. You've got funkier beats, dirtier lyrics, and a better voice.
Altogether, you WILL NOT be disappointed with this album. Get it, cause I have yet to find a store it's in. Trust me, I'm looking."
She's back.....finally.

"If you're familiar with Chupacabra, you may be going in expecting this album to sound somewhat like that. Nope. This is a more mature, more down to earth and more expressive version of Imani Coppola. Where her last albnum had a lot of quirky and humorous lyrics, this one is more well rounded..giving one a greater sense of an personality...a lot with over with a type of musical production that seems to fail to the waistsides of airplay to other acts lacking a shred of talent that this lady possess and demonstrates through the WHOLE ALBUM. I for one hope that something big comes of this. Imani deserved it back when Chupacabra was released. And she deserves it even more now."

"On this wonderful effort Imani has composed, produced and preformed almost all instruments on each track. Afrodite is more accesible than her first release, but her artistic values remain "steel". The sound is rock, funk, soul, and dance. She's defying genres once again, and it sound so good. Lyrically she tackles sexuality, liberty and just plain fun.

Amazing, Incredible, Work Of Art MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Well, reading the eight reviews, some of those people had a head on their shoulders, some didn't. Please disreguard some of the negativity that's written. If you love and appreciate music, great songs, and meaningful lyrics, this album should be yours. This album is truly amazing. I've been an Imani Coppola fan since the first record. On this album, she really was able to spread her wings and fly. The songs are incredible, and the instrumentation and production is to die for. My favorites are "Hope For The Future", which I know one day will be a monster hit, "These Days", and "Afrodite." Of coarse this album is different from the debut, but you can tell this was Imani's vision. She actually did all the production, songwriting, and played all the instruments herself. The mixing is fierce, and I guess I could go on and on. Her voice shines, and the songs will instantly charm you. Slamming album."
This is a wonderful Album

"Most albums that are worth buying never hit the radio. This is one of them. Imani spent too many years off the scene, and this has probably hurt her record sales. This album was arranged by her, sung by her and is well worth the wait.
The first song "Afrodite" feels like she's sing to you and only you. The song "Got that Hottie" works well also. The song "Dirty Girl" grows on you with it's blues roots. The Entire CD deserves air play, but probably wont get it because it's on an independent label. If you liked the first CD, you'll like this more mature, chilled out version of Ms. Coppola."
