Album DescriptionIn music, the journey motif is a widely used theme. Music and the longing for distance are both about broadening one's mind and new experiences between tenderness, danger and happiness. Thus, the odyssey is the thread that binds together the latest Ralf Uhrlandt (aka Index ID) release. His third solo album (after Schlafphase in 1999 and Expedition in 2002) for Elektrolux enters again into the multifaceted world of electronic music - between the power of narrative, harmonic complexity, musical outlines and somehow, pop. Here, Odyssee explores the in-between. The hypnotic and playful liaison of dramatic strings and accordion-like sounds (on "Vega"), bewitching epic early nineties dubtrance ("Voltage"), oriental-influenced blues in violin heaven ("Nirgendwo") and the synth pop melancholy of vocalist Teloy ("Gone", "We Carry On"). At the end of his Odyssee, Uhrlandt takes the listener where good music should finally go to: Right to the middle of your self.
