Incomplete, but a Tremendous Showcase of this Artist

"La India has become one of Latin music's grand dames, perhaps even the inheritor to Celia Cruz's throne as Queen of Salsa music. This "Best Of" collection proves why this is the case. The woman doesn't just SING...she POURS her very soul into every syllable of every word in every song, and does it with passion that can take your breath away. Missing are a few choice cuts from previous albums, but by and large all her major hits for RMM are here, from the compelling "Sola" to "Dicen Que Soy" and the latin covers of "Sobre el Fuego" (Through the Fire.) After showing her chops as an english language belter in the early 80s, India turned to salsa in espanol, and thankfully for all of us, she did it in a way that makes her music accessible, sweeping and miraculously passionate. At once fiery and soft, she bares her heart for love lost and found, stands up for her rights as a woman in a macho man's world, and proves once and for all that not all the best salsa singers are male. Novices should start with this terrific compilation and then delve deeper into a back catalog that includes the 5-star "Sola" - her best album to date by far. Expect great things from this phenomenal musical artist. If you want to add a level of sophisticated latin salsa to your next party - both Latinos and Anglos alike would be advised to add India to their CD mix. The Queen Mother Celia still lives on, but La India can now take her place on the Salsa throne!"

"After following her career from her freestylin' dayz of "Dancing on the Fire" to doing background vocals for artists such as Information Society to her latest Salsa/Latin compilation on "Mi Alma Y Corazon" she just keeps coming back with a special twist to all her songs. Her Dance cut "Seduce Me Now" (on a separate single)is amazing and a breath of fresh air. It's incredible how the freestylers (La India, George Lamond, Brenda K. Starr) have come back into the salsa scene and stake their claim. I recommend this album to any music connoisseur. This is an example of a true artist, because a real artist can adapt and overcome any genre."
Great salsa!

"Great salsa!. India knows what she's doing. She has a powerful voice and this cd's fantastic for those of you who doesn't know her 'cause it has some of her best songs. You won't regret if you buy it, and later you'll be looking for more of her cds, it's gonna happen!. I recommend "Dicen Que Soy" (CD) , and if you want a example, just listen to "No me conviene", what a song!."
