"I just went into the music store to browse with nothing in particular in mind and I heard this CD playing without knowing what it was. I was hooked from the start and asked the manager what was playing. That was 2 days ago and since I've bought the CD, haven't had it out of my head or out of my CD player since. Never heard of Irene Reid before. But where has this music been all of my life??? It's like she's right there telling you a story, just talking to you like she's talking to a friend! And BOY can she groove! Can't stop my toe from tapping. Wish I could get right up there on stage with her (although I can't sing ... or dance). I'm rhythmically challenged but if this stuff doesn't get you moving, you must not have a pulse! She sings about a lazy lover who won't comb his hair, stealing from her too; sings about men walking out on her, even about how the price of pork chops is going up! I think that instrumental support is also superb!I don't know too much about jazzy/blues music, but that is going to change real soon. I am so moved by this CD that I'm going to run out and get everything Irene Reid has ever done! I have many CDs and I'm a huge music lover with very eclectic tastes. I like things that are original and fresh, different. This CD fills the bill and more! I rank it as one of my favorite CDs ever!"

I AIN'T Gettin Tired

"About a month ago, I was listenin to WPFW (89.3) www.wpfw.org in Washington, DC and on Saturdays they play mostly blues music. I was in the kitchen washing dishes and the DJ played "I'm Gettin Tired." I laughed SO hard listening to this woman tell it like it is about her lazy lover. Unfortunately, about halfway through the song, the cd messed up and the song went off, the dj apologized and stated the artist name and I immediately went online to order the cd. I have eclectic tastes with music but was never big on blues until I heard THIS. I'm now a bonifide blues fan thanks to Irene Reid. Keep tellin it like it is Irene!! And PLEASE come to Washington to perform!"
