CD Reviews

Much better

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I must admit, I found the first Iron Monkey to have some high points, but overall I wasnt thrilled with it. Everything clicks on this album. The groovesare massive, much better than the first. The vocals seem to fit in the framework of the riffs this time. Every song is amazing, changing up at least three times, but "Boss Keloid" blows my friggin mind. I got chills, dont you know."
Last release but best sound

"Even though Iron Monkey broke up after this, I still love them for this album. To put it quite simply to explain their sound, you would have to imagine the heaviest Black Sabbath riffs made, and multiply them sixty times. The results are even heavier. The noise these nutters make is like a fist in an iron glove, slamming into your gut when the first song plays. Everything moves and glides with a maniacal genius hidden in it. The vocals are the only acqired taste, though; Johnny Morrows apopcalyptic indecipherable screams will curdle your blood and make your hair stand on end- he's that scary. Anyway, buy this if you love doom\crust\stoner metal, and stay the hell away if you don't know anything. Cheers."

"While the 3 songs off of their split CD with Church Of Misery are my favorites, this CD is startling in it's complexity and ability to really get deep into my psyche. Effective use of feedback and their trademark vocals heighten the disturbing experience, as the growls and screams and sounds of anger and agony penetrate your brain. So heavy at times I wanna rip my own throat out, and when the pace starts to build....oh my! If you're new to Iron Monkey, the vox, while only slightly, compare to A.C. (but clearer) or possibly Flesh Parade. Wicked Stuff You Won't Forget, And Will Want To Expose Others To. With all the angst of Buzzov*en and the torment of EyeHateGod, Iron Monkey really has their own sound and defy categorization. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 is 'cuz of some redundancy in the rhythms, even though I know it's deliberate. Doesn't effect listening pleasure one iota, though. Astounding Release!"
