"A few years back I was just a fan of current r&b and rap music, this was the 1st CD I bought to start my old school r&b collection. Although I have made this statement before in prior reviews, 5 stars is not enough for this CD. As far as old school music is concerned, few solo artists and groups of this era could make "Love music" like The Isley Brothers. They have been making albums since the 50s. My Isley Brothers collection starts with their 70s CDs, but as far as old school love jams are concerned, no CD does it like this. While some of the famous Isley Brothers' slow jams are missing from this CD: "Let Me Down Easy", "Sensuality (Pts: 1& 2)", "Footsteps In The Dark", and "For The Love Of You (Pts: 1 & 2), this is still a must have CD, unless you own all of these songs on Isley Brothers' CDs. While there are many gems on this CD: "Let's Fall In Love (Pts: 1 & 2)", "Voyage To Atlantis", "Caravan Of Love" and "Choosey Lover", the ultimate gem is one of my favorite songs of all time "Make Me Say It Again (Girl) (Pts: 1 & 2)". This song alone is worth the price of the CD and even more. The Isley Brothers are one of the best r&b groups of all time. If you're not a music collector like me and you just love old school slow jams, I recommend that you buy this CD or "Smooth Love" to get the best of all the Isley Brothers' slow jams all on one CD. It doesn't get much better than this."

"WHERE IS "For the Love of You"? It is only one of the BEST ballads of the century, and on the planet. Period. "For the Love of You" is the star that's missing from this review. This CD is filled with velvety smooth classics as only The Isley Brothers could do them. These ballads give meaning to the words "love song". They tell stories, have beautiful melodies and can still be played today, sounding just as sweet.Personal favorites included on this CD are: "Hello It's Me", "Don't Say Goodnight(It's Time for Love)", the very sensual "Choosey Lover" and the timeless masterpiece, "Voyage to Atlantis" with Ernie Isley's famous wailing riffs on the 6&12 string. "Make Me Say It Again" is another ultimate love song with an unforgettable melody. What's also nice about this album is the piece written by John Sinclair, "It's Time for Love". It chronicles the birth, successes and effects of The Isleys from their entrance into rhythm & blues in 1957 to the mid 70s. If you want to hear soulful, heartfelt love songs, get this CD and listen to Ron sing to his "Brown Eyed Girl", telling her "Let's Fall in Love" and to "Lay Lady Lay" on the "Caravan of Love". Yes. These are beautifull ballads, indeed. Peace. CLB."

"The Isley Brothers could always give up the slow Jam.Ronald Isley still can sing like nobodys business.this set reflects some of their best slow jams ever.Voyage to Atlantis is still the cut.Don't Say Goodnight is also timeless.Nobody today writes songs like this. The Isleys didn't have to be Graphic to Let you Know what time it was the words&Music came with Taste.another part of their Legacy.a strong self-contained unit as writers, arrangers,Producers,Instrumentalist&vocalists."
An absolute must

"This album is the epitome of classic Isley Brothers love music. It is missing some of the more popular tunes (Livin for the Love of You, Coolin' Me Out, Footsteps In The Dark) but trust, it more than compensates for it with songs which deservedly should have received much more air play. Classics like Lay Lady Lay and Hello It's Me are timeless. This is an absolute must for any Isley Brothers fans' repertoire of albums. No romantic evening is fully complete without Ronnie's smooth, silky lyrics ringing in your ears. A true pleasure."

"Why bother rating classic early material by the Isleys? Their unequaled brilliance elevates them far above the scale. They rocked us in the 1950's and 60's, grooved us in the 1970s and 80s, and we fell in love with them all over again in the 1990s and today. Listeners should get their 3-CD box set, but this disc of ballads is also a worthy alternative, even if the collection isn't as comprehensive as it could have been. "Let's Fall in Love," "Hello, It's Me," and "You're Beside Me" are brimming with the tendermess, warmth, and soul that's so desperately lacking in much of modern r&b. "Beautiful Ballads" is a sure-fire way to help create that special mood on that romantic evening with the special somebody you're with. While they're still churning out hit records and teaming up with modern collaborators such as R.Kelly, nothing can compare to their early work as summarized on this disc. A record collection without the Isley Brothers is no record collection at all."
