Amazon.comThis disc may pose a bit of a dilemma for Chopin and Ivan Moravec collectors. The pianist made another (also analog) recording of the main item on this disc, the Preludes, for Supraphon, which is just as beautiful as this one if not better. And he has a later (digital) set of the four Scherzi for Dorian. So the disc includes only 15 minutes of unduplicated Moravec Chopin. However, his playing of the Barcarolle is one of the great Chopin performances on record, and the sound of these 1965-69 recordings remains superb. What to do? Definitely hear some Moravec Chopin. And the coupling may well make this Moravec version of the Preludes preferable to the less-generous Supraphon disc. --Leslie Gerber
