"Peter Wolf has a great new album after 8 years, and with a new release people tend to discover the J Geils cd's all over again. The used prices for The Morning After alone make this a bargain. In my opinion these guys never made a bad record ,for me, all of the titles in this set are 5 stars. Party down and let's hope for a summer tour."

"...but there's really no need for that. Even at full list (which you should not pay unless you're a schmuck)this would be a good deal. OK, you don't get liner notes, or some has been rock critic picking up a quick check writing some kiss-up fluff piece. You don't get jewel boxes or digi-paks, and the outer box is flimsy at best. What you get is five of the best J. Geils band albums exactly as they were released. The first two were meat and potatoes rock 'n' roll, which is to say, a mix of R&B, blues, and rock. Songs like Homework, First I Look at the Purse, Wait, Pack Fair & Square epitomize the relentless attack of a well-oiled, savvy bar band with higher ambitions. The second album just continues that proud tradition, giving them a radio hit (Looking For A Love) in the bargain. Full House is a live album, and one of the best of all time. A couple of songs weren't on the previous albums, but where the album versions are compact and straight ahead, played live they take on a sweaty exuberance that makes them brand new. Bloodshot also delivered a hit single (Give it to Me) as well as another album full of Geils stock in trade like ...House Party and Southside Shuffle. Ladies Invited is a slight step down, but still includes three or four great tunes. All in all, this is killer stuff, for those in the know, and well worth your time. Here's hoping we get a second set with Nightmares...,Blow Your Face Out, Monkey Island and Hotline. I paid less than $20 for this, new. That's what I'd call a deal.
ps It's unlikely that these have been remastered, but they sound fine anyway."
