"I had the privelege to see Jah Messengers live in Jamaica in Feb 2005. They are a very energetic, Rasta trio that engages the audience. Their original songs are good and they successfully cover Bob Marley favorites.
Reggae Time is their release from 1993 and it is good, if a bit too heavy on synthesized music for my tastes. I much prefer them live and in person. What's more, they are fun to talk to in person. I had the opportunity to speak with Vinnie Taylor (lead vocals) before and after their show. A really sincere, great person to get to know. I've been listening to this cd non-stop since I purchased it. It makes me want to dance in my car or at work or at home: wherever I happen to be listening to it. I can't help but smiling at the message and the simplicity. It is definitely music that makes me happy.
My favorite tracks are as follows:
"Don't Give It Up"--probably my fav on the disc. It is upbeat, has a great message, and it is well done.
"Dancing Time"--again, a fun song.
I like the rest of them, too, but those first two tracks really stick with me. I'm currently trying to puzzle out all the lyrics, since they aren't included with the disc.
If you like fun music that has a message, but doesn't hit you over the head with it...this is worth it! And, if you ever visit a resort in Jamaica and find out Jah Messengers are performing do NOT miss it!"
