Zany stage shows, whirling accordion runs, and rhythmic cumbias make up the formula that has pole-vaulted this group into the top tiers of Tejano conjunto. Lead singer-accordionist Jaime De Anda, who seems to have limitless energy on stage, is the spark plug that drives this foursome. And like his idol, the great Mingo Saldivar, De Anda is also a spinning top on stage, playing and singing nonstop. Heat generators include "Llevate Tu Corazon" and the bolero-polka "Choque de Amor." Los Chamacos' secret weapon is their cool two- and three-part vocal harmonies. Another keeper from one of Tejano conjunto's most consistent outfits. --Ramiro Burr
