"Virtually unknown here in usa Jair Rodrigues became well known in Brasil in the mid sixties as the television partner for Elis Regina. And he still is going strong! The suave, dignified Samba master sings as well as ever in all genres of Brasilian music. He is too authentic to be a crooner but is a great interpreter of ballads in Bolero romantic style. As a Samba master he is , well, masterful. As always great musicians and the special treat of a great female vocalist on a couple of songs. Perhaps she is his daughter but in any case she has a voice similar to Jazz girls Nina Simone or Betty Carter. Jair reminds me of Nat King Cole. Just a terrific album if you love authentic Brasilian fare."
