From Hafnarfjordur with plenty o' beef come Jakobinarina, the surly mannish-boys creating the new Sound of Young Iceland. And it's out with glacial beauty and in with obstreperous punky racket. `This Is An Advertisement' gleeful parodies the chronic lack of integrity (both musical and political) displayed by the current miserable shower of "alternative" acts. Jakobinarina's razor-scything guitars, cheeky keyboard lines and rising, spontaneous combustion tempo, set them apart from the herd of their teenage peers. While Gunnar's confident swagger along the divide between clever and stupid is impressively, almost foolhardily, defiant. `This Is An Advertisement' is pure, bottled attitude.
