"A bit over produced, seeing that we're all used to James and one or two guitars on his YouTube videos. These songs for the most part sound alike - acoustic first verse then bring in all the percussion and all the other instruments for the rest of the song. Why are all country albums recorded this way? Then you get to the last two songs on the CD which James himself wrote and they're just guitars, steel guitars, no percussion, and just beautiful. Almost like those two songs had a different producer than the first nine. But it's a good first effort for James and his sweet, melt your heart voice. His "bummer tunes" fit his voice the best and I hope he'll continue to find them or write them but lay off the percussion a bit. I admit, I usually like what others don't, so I bet my two favorites are everyone else's least two favorites and others have to have drums in their music or they can't listen to it. I can listen to Memories of Heaven over and over. Disappointment: I bought the CD rather than buying downloads hoping the CD would have lyrics but it doesn't, and James' site doesn't include them either."

Awesome and Authentic

"James is a young man with an amazing gift. His voice ranks with the best "commercial" stars out there ... knowing his story and authentic passion for what he does, puts him in a league of his own. Even the familiar tunes on this CD have a new "Dupre" style. This CD is sort of like abstract art ... if you like country you "see" and love the country sound, if you prefer the singer-song writer style, that's what you'll hear and love in his art. For me, it's the perfect mix of Alan Jackson, James Taylor, George Straight, and a touch of the original Garth. His heart comes through from beginning to end. Great CD!"
