"the tracks listed for this CD is incorrect. If you look closely at the picture of the CD will you see what the track names are. I bought this CD based upon the track listing and did not recieve what I thought I had oredered. This is the fault of Amazon and not the seller. Buyer beware of Amazon's practices."

"This has ten popular songs from the late 1950s to 1964. Jan Berry and Dean Torrence sang of the golden life in California, an era of leisure, wealth, and fun-fun-fun for the fortunate few. Their songs celebrated life in California before the state filled up and traffic clogged the new highways. These songs will bring back memories for those who heard them on AM radio. Jan & Dean sang as a hobby, they were college students. A television movie from around 1977 presented their history.



"Side Walk Surfin" told about the newly invented skateboard, a plaything rather than a vehicle. "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" was based on a popular Dodge ad which featured an old lady as a racing enthusiast. "Dead Man's Curve" was about the deadly curve on Mulholland Drive, a venue for drag racing. Those who went off the road plunged into a ravine. "Ride the Wild Surf" was composed for the teen movie of the same name. Unfortunately, one of the guys in their circle of friends kidnapped the son of a famous singer. Hollywood retaliated by blacklisting Jan & Dean. The other songs celebrate the world of racing cars, a hobby that is rare in the snowbelt. Their world of fast cars is gone like uncontrolled auto pollution and 25 cent gasoline. Even then most teenagers worked and studied, they did not have the leisure times celebrated in these songs.
