"i first heard of jan krist off of a sampler cd from silent planet records. for those of you who don't know, silent planet records is an acoustically driven label that focuses on lesser known artists. anyways...i first heard the song "outpost of the counter culture" off of the sampler and fell in love. whether it be her nimble picking fingers, or gritty yet lovely voice, jan soars above the music weaving in and out of neo-folk with the best of them. i encourage anyone who buys this record to check out her cover of the gershwin classic "someone to watch over me." i guarantee that you will fall in love after hearing that song. then, sit back and let her music fill your soul and revilatize your spirit as she sings of love and life.if you are into good acoustic music, folk at its best, then give jan krist a try, i promise you won't be disappointed!"
Outstanding Krist CD

"This is one of Jan Krist best CD's, starting out with the title song,"Outpost of the Counterculture", a personal view of her home town, Royal Oak, MI, a city with trendy restaurants and shops north of Detroit. The song draws us in to listening to the high school band practicing a few blocks away, putting on sweatshirt and tennis shoes to walk, and then aptly ends with a great drum cadence. Many of us will also identify with "All I Can Change" and "Good Enough" with slight twists at the end of each. Her beautiful moving "Bent and Broken Reeds" will tug at the heart of anyone who has lost someone dear at too young an age. In contrast to that is the best of her lighthearted fun songs, "Parallel Universe". This CD includes the song,"Thank You", a perspective of and appreciation for family and friends. Four other unique songs round out the CD, one appropriately titled "Extraordinary" from this always orginal and talented songwriter."
