"Szymanowski's Harnaise begins mysteriously then turns more toward the spirit of Bartok and Kodaly's quirky folk-dances. This is about the slot where Szymanowski fits in the timeline of modern music.
Mandragora shows us a witty master of orchestration. Szymanowski waits for the right time to build a climax. The unjustly neglected Etude is reminiscent of the wistful Russian imperialistic music of Borodin.
An errata on cover notes. The timing of track 3, the second movement of Mandragora has been left out of the back cover. It is 8 minutes and forty seconds. Polish State Philharmonic Orchestra (Katowice) appears twice in a row on the frontispiece."
