"Jane Wiedlen will never be a star. But she should be. Alas, she will always live in the shadows of The Go-Go's and frontwoman Belinda Carlisle. But much of the success in The Go-Go's success lies in Wiedlen's keen and intelligent songwriting capabilities. This CD represents her excellent songwriting talent, as well as her understated, yet effective guitar playing. The pinnacle of her career was her first album, the self-titled "Jane Wiedlen" and it contains some of the best crafted pop and agressive folk songs of the 80's. Lost in the shuffle of 1985 (the era of Wham!, Prince and many other big-name pop acts), the album was virtually ignored in the US. And it was our loss. This album contained some incredible tunes, including "Somebody's going to get into this house", the bittersweet breakup song "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and the best hit single that never made it big, "Blue Kiss". Thankfully, these songs are included here, but if you ever see the original LP, tape or CD and you're a fan, BUY IT! This Greatest Hits collection showcases Weidlen's dynamic range of singing, songwriting and musicianship. Thankfully, there is a good mix of songs from her first three CD's, including the songwriting labor of her life "99 ways", a song she had to do numerous re-writes on before her label finally agreed. The end result is an endearing tale of a girl in love who would do anything for her man. Also, Wiedlen jumps into the ring and rocks out on the intense and rollicking "World on Fire". Thankfully, this CD contains the original demo of the Go-Go's "Our lips are sealed". It's just her and her guitar and pure tonal beauty. Here's hoping she continues to make music and create enough material for a Volume II! TwoCats"
The Very Best of Jane Wiedlin is The Very Best of Pop/Rock!

"Finally, a chance to sing the praises of the Princess of Pop! From her groundbreaking work with the Go Go's to her sophisticated and sublime solo efforts, Jane Wiedlin is one of the most talented and most under-appreciated singer/songwiters of the Rock era. This album, The Very Best of Jane Wiedlin, showcases the incredible body of work from this prolific and thoughtful writer. From the pure pop heaven of "99 Ways" to the ethereal voyage of "Guardian Angel", Wiedlin decisively claims her place as America's most engaging pop/rock writer and performer. She, like no other performer, can seduce you with heartfelt lyrics, infectious melodies, and that incredible, crystal clear voice, all set to the best pop grooves you've ever heard. To hear the very best of Pop/Rock, get "The Very Best of Jane Wiedlin". This is as good as it gets!"
My Own Top 20 JW Songs

"I was playing this CD at the office when some of my officemates heard it and commented how catchy the tunes were and how meaningful the lyrics were. They asked if they could borrow it. I said NO: you could just request me to play it for you or I could record the songs on tape for you (that's not piracy, is it? After all, this CD is out of print. Anyway...) This CD is so rare so I protect it with my life.I just wish that it included my other favorite songs. If JW were to have another "best songs compilation" CD, it should include:
1. Blue Kiss
2. Sometimes You Really Get on My Nerves
3. Modern Romance
4. I'll Wait for You
5. Inside a Dream
6. Rush Hour
7. Homeboy
8. Give!
9. Rain on Me
10. End of the Day
11. Tangled
12. Flowers on the Battlefield
13. Paper Heart
14. Guardian Angel
15. Big Rock Candy Mountain
16. 99 Ways
17. Our Lips are Sealed (acoustic/solo version)
18. Icicle
19. Kissproof World
20. My Lovely RevengeI think Jane's best album is TANGLED, that's why 8 of her 10 songs in that album are in my top 20 list."

"this is great cd to give you the overall feel on jane's solo career. I really love some of the older cuts such as "blue kiss" which is sorta a classic to some people who love light headed fun pop. Of course you have rush hour which is so catchy and bouncy...i still remember the video with jane swimming among the dolphins. the dance clubesque song of the factory is a miss that should have hit big...hopefully this song will eventually be discovered for the great dance beat and ethereal feel to it. Anyway give this cd a spin...jane sounds like a little pixie...you just want to wave your wand over her and make her sing in her wispy way!"
